Hunterston B station director: Ian Stewart

Appointed station director for Hunterston B in July 2009. Ian's career began in 1977 when he joined  the CEGB on the South East region's 5 year technical staff training programme. He spent a year in Barnwood's design office before transferring to Berkley power station. In 1989 Ian transferred to PWRs and spent 16 years based at Sizewell B working in commissioning and as a Group Head in system engineering and maintenance, before becoming Sizewell's commercial manager in 2000. Progressing to Performance Improvement Manager, then Systems Health Manager, Ian became the Sizewell B plant manager in January 2007 before transferring to the same position at Heysham 1 in May 2007. At Heysham 1 Ian took the role of Acting Station Director for 6 months through to June 2008 and then became the lead station person in the BCU recovery project for 7 months, returning to plant manager in February 2009. Ian holds a BEng in electrical engineering, a masters degree in engineering management and is a chartered engineer with the Institute of engineering and technology.
